If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy own will in my holy day and call the sabbath delightful and the holy of the Lord glorious and glorify him, while thou dost not thy own ways and thy own will is not found, to speak a word:

And the children of the stranger that adhere to the Lord, to worship him and to love his name, to be his servants; every one that keepeth the sabbath from profaning it and that holdeth fast my covenant:

And he said to them: The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.

And he said to them: This is what the Lord hath spoken: Tomorrow is the rest of the sabbath sanctified to the Lord. Whatsoever work is to be done, do it: and the meats that are to be dressed, dress them. And whatsoever shall remain, lay it up until the morning.

Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: See that thou keep my sabbath; because it is a sign between me and you in your generations; that you may know that I am the Lord, who sanctify you.

Six days shall you do work: in the seventh day is the sabbath, the rest holy to the Lord. Every one that shall do any work on this day shall die.

Six days shalt thou labour, and shalt do all thy works.

In those days, I saw in Juda some treading the presses on the sabbath, and carrying sheaves, and lading asses with wine, and grapes, and figs, and all manner of burthens, and bringing them into Jerusalem on the sabbath day. And I charged them that they should sell on a day on which it was lawful to sell.

And do not bring burdens out of your houses on the sabbath day: neither do ye any work. Sanctify the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.

And the people kept the sabbath on the seventh day.
