These words the Lord spoke to all the multitude of you in the mountain, out of the midst of the fire and the cloud, and the darkness, with a loud voice, adding nothing more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, which he delivered unto me.

He spoke to us face to face in the mount out of the midst of fire.

Keep therefore your souls carefully. You saw not any similitude in the day that the Lord God spoke to you in Horeb from the midst of the fire:

And behold a voice from heaven, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

To whom then have you likened God? Or what image will you make for him?

The voice of one, saying: Cry. And I said: What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory thereof as the flower of the field.

The voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the wilderness the paths of our God.

And thy ears shall hear the word of one admonishing thee behind thy back: This is the way; walk ye in it: and go not aside neither to the right hand, nor to the left.

And the Lord said to Moses: Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel: You have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven.

And as he was yet speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them. And lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear ye him.

For I speak to him mouth to mouth, and plainly: and not by riddles and figures doth he see the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak ill of my servant Moses?

And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words, which they that heard excused themselves, that the word might not be spoken to them:

The Lord said to him: Lo, now will I come to thee in the darkness of a cloud, that the people may hear me speaking to thee, and may believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people to the Lord.

And you came to the foot of the mount, which burned even unto heaven: and there was darkness, and a cloud and obscurity in it.

And he shewed you his covenant, which he commanded you to do, and the ten words that he wrote in two tables of stone.

And the Lord gave me two tables of stone written with the finger of God, and containing all the words that he spoke to you in the mount from the midst of the fire, when the people were assembled together.

And he wrote in the tables, according as he had written before, the ten words, which the Lord spoke to you in the mount from the midst of the fire, when the people were assembled. And he gave them to me.
