The sword without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die by the sword: and they that are in the city shall be devoured by the pestilence and the famine.

And now thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Why do you commit this great evil against your own souls, that there should die of you man and woman, child and suckling, out of the midst of Juda, and no remnant should be left you:

In that you provoke me to wrath with the works of your hands, by sacrificing to other gods in the land of Egypt, into which you are come to dwell there: and that you should perish and be a curse and a reproach to all the nations of the earth?

And though they should bring up their children, I will make them without children among men: yea, and woe to them, when I shall depart from them.

Ephraim is struck, their root is dried up, they shall yield no fruit. And if they should have issue, I will slay the best beloved fruit of their womb.

The sword hath begun in his cities, and it shall consume his chosen men, and shall devour their heads.

Thou shalt eat, but shalt not be filled: and thy humiliation shall be in the midst of thee: and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not save: and those whom thou shalt save, I will give up to the sword.
