The Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the farthest parts of the earth to the ends thereof. And there thou shalt serve strange gods, which both thou art ignorant of and thy fathers, wood and stone.
And they shall no more sacrifice their victims to devils, with whom they have committed fornication. It shall be an ordinance for ever to them and to their posterity.
Fear ye not, neither be ye troubled. From that time I have made thee to hear, and have declared: you are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me, a maker whom I have not known?
They have provoked me with that which was no god, and have angered me with their vanities. And I will provoke them with that which is no people, and will vex them with a foolish nation.
And the rest of the men, who were not slain by these plagues, did not do penance from the works of their hands, that they should not adore devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and wood, which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
They have quickly strayed from the way which thou didst shew them: and they have made to themselves a molten calf, and have adored it, and sacrificing victims to it, have said: These are thy gods, O Israel, that have brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
Because of the wickedness which they have committed, to provoke me to wrath, and to go and offer sacrifice and worship other gods which neither they, nor you nor your fathers knew.
Because they have forsaken me and have profaned this place and have sacrificed therein to strange gods, whom neither they nor their fathers knew, nor the kings of Juda. And they have filled this place with the blood of innocents.
