Deuteronomy 29:19

And when he shall hear the words of this oath, he should bless himself in his heart, saying: I shall have peace, and will walk on in the naughtiness of my heart; and the drunken may consume the thirsty.

But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear: but walked in their own will and in the perversity of their wicked heart, and went backward and not forward,

That when they shall see them, they may remember all the commandments of the Lord, and not follow their own thoughts and eyes going astray after divers things.

But the soul that committeth any thing through pride, whether he be born in the land or a stranger (because he hath been rebellious against the Lord) shall be cut off from among his people.

This then I say and testify in the Lord: That henceforward you walk not as also the Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind,

And every height that exhalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every understanding unto the obedience of Christ;

Because that, when they knew God, they have not glorified him as God, or given thanks; but became vain in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened.

If thou didst see a thief thou didst run with him: and with adulterers thou hast been a partaker.

That thou mayst pass in the covenant of the Lord thy God, and in the oath which this day the Lord thy God maketh with thee.

When there shall be found among you within any of thy gates, which the Lord thy God shall give thee, man or woman that do evil in the sight of the Lord thy God, and transgress his covenant:

Let no man deceive you with vain words. For because of these things cometh the anger of God upon the children of unbelief.

Because with lies you have made the heart of the just to mourn, whom I have not made sorrowful: and have strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his evil way and live.

Even the prophets of Israel that prophesy to Jerusalem and that see visions of peace for her: and there is no peace, saith the Lord God.

Behold, I will watch over them for evil and not for good: and all the men of Juda that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by famine till there be an end of them.

At that time Jerusalem shall be called the Throne of the Lord: and all the nations shall be gathered together to it, in the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem, and they shall not walk after the perversity of their most wicked heart.

Rejoice therefore, O young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart be in that which is good in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thy heart, and in the sight of thy eyes: and know that for all these God will bring thee into judgment.

The man that with a stiff neck despiseth him that reproveth him, shall suddenly be destroyed: and health shall not follow him.

But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat. For in what day soever thou shalt eat of it, thou shalt die the death.

Lest perhaps there should be among you a man or a woman, a family or a tribe, whose heart is turned away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of those nations: and there should be among you a root bringing forth gall and bitterness.

And the Lord should not forgive him: but his wrath and jealousy against that man should be exceedingly enkindled at that time. And all the curses that are written in this volume should light upon him: and the Lord should blot out his name from under heaven,

For they shall shortly wither away as grass, and as the green herbs shall quickly fall.

And they said: We have no hopes, for we will go after our own thoughts and we will do every one according to the perverseness of his evil heart.

And thou shalt say to Joakim the king of Juda: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast burnt that volume, saying: Why hast thou written therein and said: The king of Babylon shall come speedily and shall lay waste this land and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

But if thou wilt not hear the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep and to do all his commandments and ceremonies, which I command thee this day, all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.

And for the innocent blood that he shed, filling Jerusalem with innocent blood. And therefore the Lord would not be appeased.

For every man of the house of Israel and every stranger among the proselytes in Israel, if he separate himself from me and place his idols in his heart and set the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face and come to the prophet to inquire of me by him: I the Lord will answer him by myself.

And I will set my face against that man and will make him an example and a proverb and will cut him off from the midst of my people. And you shall know that I am the Lord.
