And the ancients of that city which they shall perceive to be nearer than the rest shall take a heifer of the herd, that hath not drawn in the yoke, nor ploughed the ground.

This is the observance of the victim, which the Lord hath ordained. Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee a red cow of full age, in which there is no blemish, and which hath not carried the yoke.

He humbled himself, becoming obedient unto death, even to the death of the cross.

Hearing, I heard Ephraim when he went into captivity. Thou hast chastised me: and I was instructed, as a young bullock unaccustomed to the yoke. Convert me, and I shall be converted: for thou art the Lord my God.
