What man is there, that hath espoused a wife, and not taken her? Let him go, and return to his house, lest he die in the war, and another man take her.

When a man hath lately taken a wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall any public business be enjoined him: but he shall be free at home without fault, that for one year he may rejoice with his wife.

Mayst thou take a wife, and another sleep with her. Mayst thou build a house, and not dwell therein. Mayest thou plant a vineyard and not gather the vintage thereof.

No man, being a soldier to God, entangleth himself with secular businesses; that he may please him to whom he hath engaged himself.

Now the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.

What man is there, that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not as yet made it to be common, whereof all men may eat? Let him go, and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man execute his office.
