And Sehon the king of Hesebon would not let us pass: because the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and fixed his heart, that he might be delivered into thy hands, as now thou seest.

And he would not grant that Israel should pass by his borders: but rather gathering an army, went forth to meet them in the desert, and came to Jasa, and fought against them.

And the Lord said to him as he was returning into Egypt: See that thou do all the wonders before Pharao, which I have put in thy hand. I shall harden his heart, and he will not let the people go.

And Moses and Aaron did all the wonders that are written, before Pharao. And the Lord hardened Pharao's heart: neither did he let the children of Israel go out of his land.

And they turned themselves, and went up by the way of Basan: and Og the king of Basan came against them with all his people, to fight in Edrai.

And the Lord said to Moses: Fear him not, for I have delivered him and all his people, and his country into thy hand. And thou shalt do to him as thou didst to Sehon the king of the Amorrhites, the inhabitant of Hesebon.

And he condescended not to the people's requests: for it was the will of God, that his word might be fulfilled, which he had spoken by the hand of Ahias the Silonite to Jeroboam the son of Nabat.
