For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Will a lion roar in the forest, if he have no prey? will the lion's whelp cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

Then I said: I will not make mention of him nor speak any more in his name. And there came in my heart as a burning fire, shut up in my bones: and I was wearied, not being able to bear it.

And he said: The Lord will roar from Sion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem: and the beautiful places of the shepherds have mourned, and the top of Carmel is withered.

For thus saith the Lord to me: Like as the lion roareth, and the lion's whelp upon his prey; and when a multitude of shepherds shall come against him, he will not fear at their voice, nor be afraid of their multitude: so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight upon mount Sion and upon the hill thereof.

In that day a horn shall bud forth to the house of Israel, and I will give thee an open mouth in the midst of them: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

O my threshing, and the children of my floor, that which I have heard of the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, I have declared unto you.

Then Jeremias spoke to all the princes and to all the people, saying: The Lord sent me to prophesy concerning this house and concerning this city all the words you have heard.
