And when he had given him leave, Paul standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. And a great silence being made, he spoke unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying:

(And when they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew tongue, they kept the more silence.)

And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the city, and there it shall be told thee what thou must do. Now the men who went in company with him, stood amazed, hearing indeed a voice, but seeing no man.

And I said: Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord answered: I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
