The wicked man taketh gifts out of the bosom, that he may pervert the paths of judgment.

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their perdition slumbereth not.

Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,

Now after many years, I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings, and vows.

The evil of their hands they call good: the prince requireth, and the judge is for giving: and the great man hath uttered the desire of his soul, and they have troubled it.

Her princes have judged for bribes, and her priests have taught for hire, and her prophets divined for money: and they leaned upon the Lord, saying: Is not the Lord in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.

Their banquet is separated, they have gone astray by fornication: they that should have protected them have loved to bring shame upon them.

And they come to thee, as if a people were coming in, and my people sit before thee: and hear thy words, and do them not: for they turn them into a song of their mouth, and their heart goeth after their covetousness.

Her princes in the midst of her are like wolves ravening the prey to shed blood and to destroy souls and to run after gains through covetousness.

And meet impudent dogs, they never had enough: the shepherds themselves knew no understanding. All have turned aside into their own way, every one after his own gain, from the first even to the last.

He that walketh in justices and speaketh truth, that casteth away avarice by oppression and shaketh his hands from all bribes, that stoppeth his ears lest he hear blood and shutteth his eyes that he may see no evil.

Thy princes are faithless, companions of thieves: they all love bribes, the run after rewards. They judge not for the fatherless: and the widow's cometh not in to them.

A just king setteth up the land: a covetous man shall destroy it.

Many honour the person of him that is mighty, and are friends of him that giveth gifts.

The expectation of him that expecteth, is a most acceptable jewel: whithersoever he turneth himself, he understandeth wisely.

For the congregation of the hypocrite is barren: and fire shall devour their tabernacles, who love to take bribes.

Let the fear of the Lord be with you, and do all things with diligence. For there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor desire of gifts.

Speak of me before the Lord, and before his anointed, whether I have taken any man's ox, or ass: If I have wronged any man: If I have oppressed any man: If I have taken a bribe at any man's hand: and I will despise it this day, and will restore it to you.

And his sons walked not in his ways: but they turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.

And not go aside to either part. Thou shalt not accept person nor gifts: for gifts blind the eyes of the wise, and change the words of the just.

Neither shalt thou take bribes, which even blind the wise, and pervert the words of the just.

And behold there appeared to them Moses and Elias talking with him.
