Is it then to be thought that God should indeed dwell upon earth? For if heaven, and the heavens of heavens cannot contain thee, how much less this house which I have built?

Behold, heaven is the Lord's thy God, and the heaven of heaven, the earth and all things that are therein.

Yet the most High dwelleth not in houses made by hands, as the prophet saith:

THUS saith the Lord: Heaven is my throne, and the earth my footstool. What is this house that you will build to me? And what is this place of my rest?

Is it credible then that God should dwell with men on the earth? If heaven and the heavens of heavens do not contain thee, how much less this house, which I have built?

At that time Jesus answered and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to the little ones.

Who then can be able to build him a worthy house? If heaven, and the heavens of heavens cannot contain him: who am I that I should be able to build him a house? But to this end only, that incense may be burnt before him.

O Lord, for I am thy servant: I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid. Thou hast broken my bonds:

And I saw a great white throne, and one sitting upon it, from whose face the earth and heaven fled away, and there was no place found for them.

Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

Who having heard it, with one accord lifted up their voice to God, and said: Lord, thou art he that didst make heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are in them.

Thus then shall you say to them: The gods that have not made heaven and earth, let them perish from the earth and from among those places that are under heaven.

In that same hour, he rejoiced in the Holy Ghost, and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to little ones. Yea, Father, for so it hath seemed good in thy sight.

Thus saith the Lord God that created the heavens and stretched them out: that established the earth and the things that spring out of it: that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that tread thereon.

And he prayed in his sight, saying: O Lord God of Israel, who sitteth upon the cherubims, thou alone art the God of all the kings of the earth. Thou madest heaven and earth.

Shall a man be hid in secret places and I not see him, saith the Lord? Do not I fill heaven and earth, saith the Lord?

For every house is built by some man: but he that created all things, is God.

But I say to you not to swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God:

Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and weighed the heavens with his palm? Who hath poised with three fingers the bulk of the earth and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?

Unto the end, a psalm for David. To thee, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul.

In these days hath spoken to us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the world.

IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Knowest thou not, or hast thou not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, who hath created the ends of the earth. He shall not faint nor labour, neither is there any searching out of his wisdom.

The burden of the word of the Lord upon Israel. Thus saith the Lord, who stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundations of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man in him:

for his name alone is exalted.

Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God, behold, thou hast made heaven and earth by thy great power and thy stretched-out arm: no word shall be hard to thee.

For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens, God himself that formed the earth and made it, the very maker thereof, he did not create it in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is no other.

Great is our Lord, and great is his power: and of his wisdom there is no number.

Blessed him, and said: Blessed be Abram by the most high God, who created heaven and earth.

And he answered him: I lift up my hand to the Lord God the most high, the possessor of heaven and earth,

In the beginning God created heaven, and earth.

Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why then doth every one of us despise his brother, violating the covenant of our fathers?

Because that which is known of God is manifest in them. For God hath manifested it unto them.
