Who opposeth, and is lifted up above all that is called God, or that is worshipped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself as if he were God.

And after ten days had passed, the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.

And it came to pass at midnight, the Lord slew every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharao, who sat on his throne, unto the firstborn of the captive woman that was in the prison, and all the firstborn of cattle.

Wilt thou yet say before them that slay thee: I am God; whereas thou art a man, and not God, in the hand of them that slay thee?

Whom hast thou reproached, and whom hast thou blasphemed, and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thy eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.

Thy pride is brought down to hell: thy carcass is fallen down. Under thee shall the moth be strewed, and worms shall be thy covering.

And I shall be clothed again with my skin: and in my flesh I will see my God.

My flesh is clothed with rottenness and the filth of dust: my skin is withered and drawn together.

And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the stout men and the warriors, and the captains of the army of the king of the Assyrians. And he returned with disgrace into his own country. And when he was come into the house of his god, his sons that came out of his bowels slew him with the sword.

And it came to pass that night, that an angel of the Lord came, and slew in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand. And when he arose early in the morning, he saw all the bodies of the dead.

For the Lord will pass through striking the Egyptians: and when he shall see the blood on the transom, and on both the posts, he will pass over the door of the house, and not suffer the destroyer to come into your houses and to hurt you.

And I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and will kill every firstborn in the land of Egypt both man and beast: and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments. I am the Lord.

Therefore Moses and Aaron went in to Pharao, and said to him: Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews: How long refusest thou to submit to me? Let my people go, to sacrifice to me.

Dost thou yet hold back my people: and wilt thou not let them go?

But an angel of the Lord by night opening the doors of the prison, and leading them out, said:

And the people made acclamation, saying: It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt.
