Moreover he must have a good testimony of them who are without: lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Wherefore he saith: Rise thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead: and Christ shall enlighten thee.

And very many of them shall stumble and fall, and shall be broken in pieces, and shall be snared and taken.

And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who seduceth the whole world; and he was cast unto the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Then the Lord said to Satan: Behold, all that he hath is in thy hand; only put not forth thy hand upon his person. And Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.

When a strong man armed keepeth his court, those things are in peace which he possesseth.

Therefore will I distribute to him very many, and he shall divide the spoils of the strong: because he hath delivered his soul unto death and was reputed with the wicked. And he hath borne the sins of many and hath prayed for the transgressors.

And the word of the Lord shall be to them: Command, command again; command, command again: expect, expect again; expect, expect again: a little there, a little there: that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

And the Lord said to Satan: Behold, he is in thy hand; but yet save his life.

That we be not overreached by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his devices.

And so were also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's partners. And Jesus saith to Simon: Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
