The company of the second month was under Dudia, an Ahohite: and after him was another named Macelloth, who commanded a part of the army of four and twenty thousand.

And David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying: What shall be given to the man that shall kill this Philistine, and shall take away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

Then his disciples leaving him, all fled away.

I looked about, and there was none to help: I sought, and there was none to give aid. And my own arm hath saved for me: and my indignation itself hath helped me.

And the Philistine said: I have defied the bands of Israel this day. Give me a man, and let him fight with me hand to hand.

And Abisue, and Naaman, and Ahoe,

And if a man prevail against one, two shall withstand him: a threefold cord is not easily broken.
