Then the king arose and sat in the gate: and it was told to all the people that the king sat in the gate. And all the people came before the king but Israel fled to their own dwellings.

And David sat between the two gates: and the watchman that was on the top of the gate upon the wall, lifting up his eyes, saw a man running alone.

And the king said to them: What seemeth good to you, that will I do. And the king stood by the gate: and all the people went forth by their troops, by hundreds and by thousands.

And Joram came to Seira, and all the chariots with him. And he arose in the night, and defeated the Edomites that had surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots: but the people fled into their tents.
