And he said: While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept for him. For I said: Who knoweth whether the Lord may not give him to me, and the child may live?
Go and say to Ezechias: Thus saith the Lord the God of David thy father: I have heard thy prayer, and I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add to thy days fifteen years.
And the shipmaster came to him, and said to him: Why art thou fast asleep? rise up, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think of us, that we may not perish.
Sanctify ye a fast, call an assembly; gather together the ancients, all the inhabitants of the land into the house of your God: and cry ye to the Lord:
And his servants said to him: What thing is this that thou hast done? Thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead thou didst rise up, and eat bread.
I beseech thee, O Lord, remember how I have walked before thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is pleasing before thee. And Ezechias wept with much weeping.
