But Giezi the servant of the man of God said: My master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving of him that which he brought. As the Lord liveth, I will run after him, and take some thing of him.

And he said to Giezi his servant: Call this Sunamitess. And when he had called her, and she stood before him,

And the king said: May God do so and so to me, and may he add more, if the head of Eliseus the son of Saphat shall stand on him this day.

And he called Giezi, and said to him: Call this Sunamitess. And she being called went in to him. And he said: Take up thy son.

But Giezi was gone before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child: and there was no voice nor sense. And he returned to meet him, and told him, saying: The child is not risen.

Eliseus also came to Damascus; and Benadad king of Syria was sick. And they told him, saying: The man of God is come hither.

And the man of God was angry with him, and said: If thou hadst smitten five or six or seven times, thou hadst smitten Syria even to utter destruction. But now three times shalt thou smite it.

So she went forward, and came to the man of God to mount Carmel. And when the man of God saw her coming towards, he said to Giezi his servant: Behold that Sunamitess.

HEAR ye these things, O house of Jacob, you that are called by the name of Israel and are come forth out of the waters of Juda, you who swear by the name of the Lord and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in justice.

For this might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
