And he prayed in his sight, saying: O Lord God of Israel, who sitteth upon the cherubims, thou alone art the God of all the kings of the earth. Thou madest heaven and earth.

Thence will I give orders, and will speak to thee over the propitiatory, and from the midst of the two cherubims, which shall be upon the ark of the testimony, all things which I will command the children of Israel by thee.

Fear ye not, neither be ye troubled. From that time I have made thee to hear, and have declared: you are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me, a maker whom I have not known?

Thus saith the Lord, the king of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last: and besides me there is no God.

The needy and the poor seek for waters, and there are none: their tongue hath been dry with thirst. I the Lord will hear them. I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

The Lord lifteth up the meek, and bringeth the wicked down even to the ground.

Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for Asaph himself.

O taste, and see that the Lord is sweet: blessed is the man that hopeth in him.

And Ezechias the king, and Isaias the prophet, the son of Amos, prayed against this blasphemy, and cried out to heaven.

And said: O Lord God of our fathers, thou art God in heaven, and rulest over all the kingdoms and nations. In thy hand is strength and power, and no one can resist thee.

And he called upon the Lord God, and said: Lord, there is no difference with thee, whether thou help with few, or with many. Help us, O Lord our God: for with confidence in thee, and in thy name, we are come against this multitude. O Lord thou art our God. Let not man prevail against thee.

And Jabes called upon the God of Israel, saying: If blessing thou wilt bless me, and wilt enlarge my borders, and thy hand be with me, and thou save me from being oppressed by evil. And God granted him the things he prayed for.

And said: Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee in heaven above, or on earth beneath: who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that have walked before thee with all their heart.

So the people sent to Silo; and they brought from thence the ark of the covenant of the Lord of hosts sitting upon the cherubims. And the two sons of Heli, Ophni and Phinees, were with the ark of the covenant of God.

But he said: Thy name shall not be called Jacob, but Israel: for if thou hast been strong against God, how much more shalt thou prevail against men?

These are the generations of the heaven and the earth, when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the heaven and the earth:

In the beginning God created heaven, and earth.

And raising an altar there, he invoked upon it the most mighty God of Israel.

Now therefore, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know, that thou art the Lord the only God.

And David went up with all the men of Israel to the hill of Cariathiarim which is in Juda, to bring thence the ark of the Lord God sitting upon the cherubims, where his name is called upon.

Thou thyself, O Lord alone, thou hast made heaven, and the heaven of heavens, and all the host thereof: the earth and all things that are in it: the seas and all that are therein. And thou givest life to all these things, and the host of heaven adoreth thee.

And Ezechias took the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it, and went up to the house of the Lord: and Ezechias spread it before the Lord.

Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God, behold, thou hast made heaven and earth by thy great power and thy stretched-out arm: no word shall be hard to thee.

Rejoice to God our helper: sing aloud to the God of Jacob.
