Who shall fear thee, O king of nations, for thine is the glory. Among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is none like unto thee.
And thou gavest them into the hands of their enemies, and they afflicted them. And in the time of their tribulation they cried to thee; and thou heardest from heaven. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies thou gavest them saviours, to save them from the hands of their enemies.
But the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power, and a stretched-out arm, him shall you fear, and him shall you adore, and to him shall you sacrifice.
And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying: If you turn to the Lord with all your heart, put away the strange gods from among you, Baalim and Astaroth. And prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
