Even from that time when Israel was rent from the house of David, and made Jeroboam son of Nabat their king. For Jeroboam separated Israel from the Lord, and made them commit a great sin.

The Lord therefore said to Solomon: Because thou hast done this, and hast not kept my covenant, and my precepts, which I have commanded thee, I will divide and rend thy kingdom, and will give it to thy servant.

And he said to Jeroboam: Take to thee ten pieces: for thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give thee ten tribes.

And the Lord shall give up Israel for the sins of Jeroboam, who hath sinned, and made Israel to sin.

Jesus answered: Thou shouldst not have any power against me, unless it were given thee from above. Therefore, he that hath delivered me to thee, hath the greater sin.

The Lord shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon the house of thy father, days that have not come since the time of the separation of Ephraim from Juda, with the king of the Assyrians.

But as for me, I have walked in my innocence: redeem me, and have mercy on me.

And he made to himself priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.

And when he had enclosed them with walls, he put in them governors and storehouses of provisions, that is, of oil and of wine.

And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it to thee: and thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and followed me with all his heart, doing that which was well pleasing in my sight:

Do not so, my sons: for it is no good report that I hear, that you make the people of the Lord to transgress.

Wherefore the sin of the young men was exceeding great before the Lord: because they withdrew men from the sacrifice of the Lord.

And he said to Aaron: What has this people done to thee, that thou shouldst bring upon them a most heinous sin?

And Abimelech called also for Abraham, and said to him: What hast thou done to us? What have we offended thee in, that thou hast brought upon me and upon my kingdom a great sin? Thou hast done to us what thou oughtest not to do.

And for this cause did the house of Jeroboam sin: and was cut off and destroyed from the face of the earth.

And the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam, which he had done. And they departed not from them,

Nevertheless he stuck to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin, nor did he depart from them.
