But Josaba the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ochozias, took Joas the son of Ochozias: and stole him from among the king's sons that were slain, out of the bedchamber with his nurse: and hid him from the face of Athalia, so that he was not slain.

But Josabeth the king's daughter took Joas the son of Ochozias, and stole him from among the king's sons that were slain. And she hid him with his nurse in a bedchamber. Now Josabeth that hid him was daughter of king Joram, wife of Joiada the high priest, and sister of Ochozias. And therefore Athalia did not kill him.

Now Joas was seven years old, when he began to reign.

But the Lord would not destroy Juda, for David his servant's sake: as he had promised him, to give him a light, and to his children always.

In the fifth year of Joram son of Achab king of Israel, and of Josaphat king of Juda, reigned Joram son of Josaphat king of Juda.

And he built a floor over all the house five cubits in height: and he covered the house with timber of cedar.

The door for the middle side was on the right hand of the house: and by winding stairs they went up to the middle room, and from the middle to the third.

Then Adad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt: and Adad was then a little boy.

The father of Joram. And Joram begot Ochozias, of whom was born Joas.

And the king commanded Jeremiel the son of Amelech and Saraias the son of Ezriel and Selemias the son of Abdeel, to take up Baruch the scribe and Jeremias the prophet: but the Lord hid them.
