They are the ministers of Christ (I speak as one less wise): I am more; in many more labours, in prisons more frequently, in stripes above measure, in deaths often.

For such false apostles are deceitful workmen, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we reap your carnal things?

Because with lies you have made the heart of the just to mourn, whom I have not made sorrowful: and have strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his evil way and live.

Therefore thus saith the Lord: Behold I will visit upon Semeias the Nehelamite and upon his seed. He shall not have a man to sit in the midst of this people and he shall not see the good that I will do to my people, saith the Lord: because he hath spoken treason against the Lord.

The prophets prophesied falsehood, and the priests clapped their hands: and my people loved such things. What then shall be done in the end thereof?

His servants came to him, and said to him: Father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, surely thou shouldst have done it. How much rather what he now hath said to thee: Wash, and thou shalt he clean?

Who will render to every man according to his works.

And not rather (as we are slandered, and as some affirm that we say) let us do evil, that there may come good? whose damnation is just.
