Harden not your necks, as your fathers did: Yield yourselves to the Lord, and come to his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever. Serve the Lord the God of your fathers; and the wrath of his indignation shall be turned away from you.

Now therefore I have a mind that we make a covenant with the Lord the God of Israel: and he will turn away the wrath of his indignation from us.

And again the Lord said to Moses: See that this people is stiffnecked.

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart; and stiffen your neck no more.

Therefore they are before the throne of God, and they serve him day and night in his temple: and he, that sitteth on the throne, shall dwell over them.

But to Israel he saith: All the day long have I spread my hands to a people that believeth not, and contradicteth me.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end life everlasting.

If any man minister to me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.

Then Jesus saith to him: Begone, Satan: for it is written, The Lord thy God shalt thou adore, and him only shalt thou serve.

Thou hast made all the borders of the earth: the summer and the spring were formed by thee.

I will praise the name of God with a canticle: and I will magnify him with praise.

Let their eyes be darkened that they see not; and their back bend thou down always.

Hear, O God, my prayer, when I make supplication to thee: deliver my soul from the fear of the enemy.

And they gave their hands to put away their wives, and to offer for their offence a ram of the flock.

He also revolted from king Nabuchodonosor, who had made him swear by God. And he hardened his neck and his heart, from returning to the Lord the God of Israel.

And they said to them: You shall not bring in the captives hither, lest we sin against the Lord. Why will you add to our sins, and heap up upon our former offences? For the sin is great, and the fierce anger of the Lord hangeth over Israel.

But hear ye my counsel, and release the captives that you have brought of your brethren; because a great indignation of the Lord hangeth over you.

And all the princes, and men of power, and all the sons of king David gave their hand, and were subject to Solomon the king.

But yet the Lord turned not away from the wrath of his great indignation, wherewith his anger was kindled against Juda: because of the provocations, wherewith Manasses had provoked him.

But if it seem evil to you to serve the Lord, you have your choice: choose this day that which pleaseth you, whom you would rather serve, whether the gods which your fathers served in Mesopotamia, or the gods of the Amorrhites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

Keep the precepts of the Lord thy God, and the testimonies and ceremonies which he hath commanded thee.

Take heed diligently lest thou forget the Lord, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and shalt serve him only: and thou shalt swear by his name.

Let rulers be appointed in all the multitude. And in all our cities, let them that have taken strange wives come at the times appointed, and with them the ancients and the judges of every city, until the wrath of our God be turned away from us for this sin.

Shout against her, she hath every where given her hand, her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the Lord. Take vengeance upon her. As she hath done, so do to her.

From the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel, for a house to be built in it to my name. Neither chose I any other man, to be the ruler of my people Israel.

But I chose Jerusalem, that my name might be there: and I chose David to set him over my people Israel.

For I have chosen, and have sanctified this place, that my name may be there for ever: and my eyes and my heart may remain there perpetually.
