After this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon in the valley, from the entering in of the fish gate round about to Ophel, and raised it up to a great height. And he appointed captains of the army in all the fenced cities of Juda.
And he took the captains of hundreds, and the most valiant men, and the chiefs of the people, and all the people of the land: and they brought down the king from the house of the Lord, and brought him through the upper gate into the king's house, and set him on the royal throne.
But the high places he took not away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places. He built the highest gate of the house of the Lord.
And the princes of Juda heard these words: and they went up from the king's house into the house of the Lord and sat in the entry of the new gate of the house of the Lord.
