And Joas king of Israel took Amasias king of Juda, the son of Joas, the son Joachaz, in Bethsames, and brought him to Jerusalem: and broke down the walls thereof, from the gate of Ephraim to the gate of the corner, four hundred cubits.

And the people went forth, and brought. And they made themselves tabernacles every man on the top of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.

And they came up into the land of Juda, and wasted it. And they carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house: his sons also, and his wives; so that there was no son left him but Joachaz, who was the youngest.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the city shall be built to the Lord from the tower of Hanameel even to the gate of the corner.

And the two choirs of them that gave praise stood still at the house of God: and I and the half of the magistrates with me.

The pride of thy heart hath lifted thee up, who dwellest in the clefts of the rocks, and settest up thy throne on high: who sayest in thy heart: Who shall bring me down to the ground?

Humiliation followeth the proud: and glory shall uphold the humble of spirit.

Pride goeth before destruction: and the spirit is lifted up before a fall.

And at the return of the year, king Nabuchodonosor sent, and brought him to Babylon, carrying away at the same time the most precious vessels of the house of the Lord. And he made Sedecias his uncle king over Juda and Jerusalem.

Against him came up Nabuchodonosor king of the Chaldeans, and led him bound in chains into Babylon.

Therefore he brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of the Assyrians. And they took Manasses, and carried him bound with chains and fetters to Babylon.

And he returned to be healed in Jezrahel: for he received many wounds in the foresaid battle. And Ochozias the son of Joram king of Juda, went down to visit Joram the son of Achab in Jezrahel where he lay sick.

But Joas king of Israel took Amasias, king of Juda, the son of Joas, the son of Ochozias, in Bethsames; and brought him into Jerusalem. And he broke down the wall of Jerusalem, from the gate of Ephraim to the gate of the corner, four hundred cubits.

And Juda fell before Israel; and they fled to their dwellings.

He built up also with great diligence all the wall that had been broken down, and built towers upon it, and another wall without. And he repaired Mello in the city of David, and made all sorts of arms and shields.
