And when he spoke these things, he answered him: Art thou the king's counsellor? Be quiet, lest I kill thee. And the prophet departing said: I know that God is minded to kill thee, because thou hast done this evil, and moreover hast not hearkened to my counsel.

And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry: and shall send gifts one to another, because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt upon the earth.

So Johanan the son of Caree and all the captains of the soldiers and all the people obeyed not the voice of the Lord, to remain in the land of Juda.

Then he that heareth the sound of the trumpet, whosoever he be, and doth not look to himself, if the sword come, and cut him off: his blood shall be upon his own head.

And Pharao said to Moses: Get thee from me, and beware thou see not my face any more. In what day soever thou shalt come in my sight, thou shalt die.

The spirit of God then came upon Zacharias the son of Joiada the priest. And he stood in the sight of the people, and said to them: Thus saith the Lord God: Why transgress you the commandment of the Lord which will not be for your good, and have forsaken the Lord, to make him forsake you?

Because they have hated instruction and received not the fear of the Lord,

Nor consented to my counsel, but despised all my reproof.

Thy own wickedness shall reprove thee, and thy apostasy shall rebuke thee. Know thou, and see that it is an evil and a bitter thing for thee, to have left the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not with thee, saith the Lord, the God of hosts.
