But the high places he did not take away. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with the Lord all his days.

And Asa did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, as did David his father.

In holiness and justice before him, all our days.

So Ezechias did all things which we have said in all Juda, and wrought that which was good; and right, and truth, before the Lord his God,

And he took away the effeminate out of the land: and he removed all the filth of the idols, which his fathers had made.

And Abia slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.

And broke the statues, and cut down the groves.

Moreover Maacha the mother of king Asa he deposed from the royal authority, because she had made in a grove an idol of Priapus. And he entirely destroyed it, and breaking it into pieces burnt it at the torrent Cedron.

And there was a letter brought him from Elias the prophet, in which it was written: Thus saith the Lord the God of David thy father: Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Josaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Juda,

Thou shalt not adore their gods, nor serve them. Thou shalt not do their works: but shalt destroy them, and break their statues.

Overthrow their altars, and break down their statues: burn their groves with fire, and break their idols in pieces. Destroy their names out of those places.

And when his heart had taken courage for the ways of the Lord, he took away also the high places and the groves out of Juda.

And he walked in the way of his father Asa, and departed not from it, doing the things that were pleasing before the Lord.

And when these things had been duly celebrated, all Israel that were found in the cities of Juda went out. And they broke the idols, and cut down the groves, demolished the high places, and destroyed the altars, not only out of all Juda and Benjamin, but out of Ephraim also and Manasses, till they had utterly destroyed them. Then all the children of Israel returned to their possessions and cities.

And when he had destroyed the altars, and the groves, and had broken the idols in pieces, and had demolished all profane temples throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.
