And we beseech you, brethren, to know them who labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you:

Obey your prelates, and be subject to them. For they watch as being to render an account of your souls; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief. For this is not expedient for you.

Remember your prelates who have spoken the word of God to you; whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation,

For they have refreshed both my spirit and yours. Know them, therefore, that are such.

That you also be subject to such, and to every one that worketh with us, and laboureth.

But by the grace of God, I am what I am; and his grace in me hath not been void, but I have laboured more abundantly than all they: yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

But hath in due times manifested his word in preaching, which is committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior:

And we beseech you, brethren, rebuke the unquiet, comfort the feeble minded, support the weak, be patient towards all men.

And God indeed hath set some in the church; first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly doctors; after that miracles; then the graces of healing, helps, governments, kinds of tongues, interpretations of speeches.

For we are God's coadjutors: you are God's husbandry; you are God's building.

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring you ought to support the weak, and to remember the word of the Lord Jesus, how he said: It is a more blessed thing to give, rather than to receive.

Take heed to yourselves, and to the whole flock, wherein the Holy Ghost hath placed you bishops, to rule the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

And in the same house, remain, eating and drinking such things as they have: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house.

The mystery of the seven stars, which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches. And the seven candlesticks are the seven churches.

For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and shouldest ordain priests in every city, as I also appointed thee:

And to the angel of the church of Pergamus write: These things, saith he, that hath the sharp two edged sword:

And to the angel of the church of Smyrna write: These things saith the First and the Last, who was dead, and is alive:

And thou hast patience, and hast endured for my name, and hast not fainted.

For you remember, brethren, our labour and toil: working night and day, lest we should be chargeable to any of you, we preached among you the gospel of God.

I have sent you to reap that in which you did not labour: others have laboured, and you have entered into their labours.

These things speak, and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Them that sin reprove before all: that the rest also may have fear.

An ancient man rebuke not, but entreat him as a father: young men, as brethren:

And I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy unto you shortly, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know the things concerning you.

Salute Mary, who hath laboured much among you.

Salute Tryphaena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord. Salute Persis, the dearly beloved, who hath much laboured in the Lord.

For the rest therefore, brethren, we pray and beseech you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have received from us, how you ought to walk, and to please God, so also you would walk, that you may abound the more.
