I will give thee a king in my wrath, and will take him away in my indignation.

And after that they desired a king: and God gave them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, forty years.

And I chid them, and laid my curse upon them. And I beat some of them, and shaved off their hair, and made them swear by God that they would not give their daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for their sons, nor for themselves, saying:

And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem were at rest on the sabbath day, I spoke. And they shut the gates: and I commanded that they should not open them till after the sabbath. And I set some of my servants at the gates, that none should bring in burthens on the sabbath day.

For I have foretold unto him, that I will judge his house for ever, for iniquity; because he knew that his sons did wickedly, and did not chastise them.

And Saul came to Samuel in the midst of the gate and said: Tell me, I pray thee, where is the house of the seer?

And Hanameel, my uncle's son came to me, according to the word of the Lord to the entry of the prison, and said me: Buy my field which is in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, for the right of inheritance is thine, and thou art next of kin to possess it. And I understood this was the word of the Lord.
