Unto the end, for the octave, a psalm for David.

And when they shall persecute you in this city, flee into another. Amen I say to you, you shall not finish all the cities of Israel, till the Son of man come.

And I said: Should such a man as I flee? And who is there that being as I am would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.

And he set the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, and psalteries, and harps according to the regulation of David the king, and of Gad the seer, and of Nathan the prophet: for it was the commandment of the Lord by the hand of his prophets.

Now the acts of king David first and last are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer:

And the Lord spoke to Gad the seer of David, saying:

And there came also of the men of Benjamin and of Juda to the hold, in which David abode.

And David arose in the morning, and the word of the Lord came to Gad the prophet and the seer of David, saying:

And David departed from thence into Maspha of Moab. And he said to the king of Moab: Let my father and my mother tarry with you, I beseech thee, till I know what God will do for me.

And Gad the prophet said to David: Abide not in the hold. Depart, and go into the land of Juda. And David departed, and came into the forest of Haret.

And he defeated Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the earth. And he measured with two lines, one to put to death, and one to save alive: and Moab was made to serve David under tribute.

And David was in a hold, and the garrison of the Philistines in Bethlehem.
