And when Samuel was come to Saul, Saul said to him: Blessed be thou of the Lord. I have fulfilled the word of the Lord.

And he said: Blessed art thou of the Lord, my daughter, and thy latter kindness has surpassed the former; because thou hast not followed young men either poor or rich.

And Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the flocks of sheep and of the herds, and the garments and the rams, and all that was beautiful, and would not destroy them: but every thing that was vile and good for nothing, that they destroyed.

Blessed him, and said: Blessed be Abram by the most high God, who created heaven and earth.

And Adam said: The woman, whom thou gavest me to be my companion, gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

Let another praise thee, and not thy own mouth: a stranger, and not thy own lips.

And when he had made an end of offering the holocaust, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went forth to meet him and salute him.

And Saul said to Samuel: Yea, I have hearkened to the voice of the Lord, and have walked in the way by which the Lord sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalec, and Amalec I have slain.

But one of the servants told Abigail the wife of Nabal, saying: Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness, to salute our master; and he rejected them.

David therefore sent messengers to the men of Jabes Galaad, and said to them: Blessed be you to the Lord, who have shewn this mercy to your master Saul, and have buried him.

And Saul said: Blessed be ye of the Lord; for you have pitied my case.
