Be humbled in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

Humiliation followeth the proud: and glory shall uphold the humble of spirit.

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled: and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

I say to you, this man went down into his house justified rather that the other: because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble.

And he humbled himself afterwards, because his heart had been lifted up, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and therefore the wrath of the Lord came not upon them in the days of Ezechias.

But yet because they were humbled, the wrath of the Lord turned away from them, and they were not utterly destroyed: for even in Juda there were found good works.

And after that he was in distress he prayed to the Lord his God: and did penance exceedingly before the God of his fathers.

Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough ways plain.

They are not cleansed even to this day: neither have they feared nor walked in the law of the Lord nor in my commandments which I set before you and your fathers.

When God arose in judgment, to save all the meek of the earth.

The lofty eyes of man are humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be made to stoop: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

And thy heart hath been moved to fear, and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, hearing the words against this place, and the inhabitants thereof, to wit, that they should become a wonder and a curse, and thou hast rent thy garments, and wept before me. I also have heard thee, saith the Lord:

Hast thou not seen Achab humbled before me? Therefore, because he hath humbled himself for my sake, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.

I will shew thee, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requireth of thee: Verily, to do judgment, and to love mercy, and to walk solicitous with thy God.

For thus saith the High and the Eminent that inhabiteth eternity. And his name is Holy, who dwelleth in the high and holy place and with a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite.

For why did Christ, when as yet we were weak, according to the time, die for the ungodly?

And he did not humble himself before the Lord, as Manasses his father had humbled himself, but committed far greater sins.

And he did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God, and did not reverence the face of Jeremias the prophet speaking to him from the mouth of the Lord.

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he? All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient.

And thou, son of man, mourn with the breaking of thy loins, and with bitterness sigh before them.

Behold, God is high in his strength: and none is like him among the law-givers.

His prayer also, and his being heard, and all his sins, and contempt, and places wherein he built high places, and set up groves, and statues before he did penance, are written in the words of Hozai.

Revenge is mine, and I will repay them in due time, that their foot may slide. The day of destruction is at hand, and the time makes haste to come.

Therefore I also will walk against them, and bring them into their enemies' land until their uncircumcised mind be ashamed. Then shall they pray for their sins.

But Moses besought the Lord his God, saying: Why, O Lord, is thy indignation kindled against thy people, whom thou hast brought out of the land of Egypt, with great power, and with a mighty hand?

But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go, but by a mighty hand.

Take, my brethren, for an example of suffering evil, of labour and patience, the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord.

But hath in due times manifested his word in preaching, which is committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior:

And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword: and the residue shall be scattered into every wind. And you shall know that I the Lord have spoken.

Who gave himself a redemption for all, a testimony in due times.

Be subject therefore to God, but resist the devil, and he will fly from you.
