And Solomon finished the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all that he had designed in his heart to do, in the house of the Lord, and in his own house; and he prospered.

And all the towns that belonged to himself, and were not walled, he fortified: the cities also of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen, and whatsoever he had a mind to build in Jerusalem, and in Libanus, and in all the land of his dominion.

Better it is to see what thou mayst desire, than to desire that which thou canst not know. But this also is vanity, and presumption of spirit.

And whatsoever my eyes desired, I refused them not: and I withheld not my heart from enjoying every pleasure, and delighting itself in the things which I had prepared: and esteemed this my portion, to make use of my own labour.

I made me great works, I built me houses, and planted vineyards,

(Hiram the king of Tyre furnishing Solomon with cedar-trees and fir-trees, and gold, according to all he had need of): then Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

And Solomon finished all the work that he made in the house of the Lord: and brought in the things that David his father had dedicated, the silver and the gold, and the vessels; and laid them up in the treasures of the house of the Lord.

In the fourth year was the house of the Lord founded in the month Zio.

And Solomon built his own house in thirteen years, and brought it to perfection.

He built also the house of the forest of Libanus. The length of it was a hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty cubits, and the height thirty cubits: and four galleries between pillars of cedar: for he had cut cedar-trees into pillars.

And on the eighth day he sent away the people. And they blessed the king, and went to their dwellings rejoicing and glad in heart for all the good things that the Lord had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.

And when twenty years were ended after Solomon had built the two houses, that is, the house of the Lord, and the house of the king,

Balaath also, and all the strong cities that were Solomon's, and all the cities of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen. All that Solomon had a mind, and designed, he built in Jerusalem, and in Libanus, and in all the land of his dominion.

And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon, and he made affinity with Pharao the king of Egypt: for he took his daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

And when Solomon had made an end of his prayer, fire came down from heaven, and consumed the holocausts and the victims. And the majesty of the Lord filled the house.

And at the end of twenty years after Solomon had built the house of the Lord and his own house:
