The Lord hath made known his salvation: he hath revealed his justice in the sight of the Gentiles.

And he commanded him, saying: Speak to Aaron thy brother, that he enter not at all into the sanctuary, which is within the veil before the propitiatory, with which the ark is covered, lest he die, (for I will appear in a cloud over the oracle)

Verily thou art a hidden God, the God of Israel, the saviour.

For you are not come to a mountain that might be touched, and a burning fire, and a whirlwind, and darkness, and storm,

These words the Lord spoke to all the multitude of you in the mountain, out of the midst of the fire and the cloud, and the darkness, with a loud voice, adding nothing more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, which he delivered unto me.

And you came to the foot of the mount, which burned even unto heaven: and there was darkness, and a cloud and obscurity in it.

And the people stood afar off. But Moses went to the dark cloud wherein God was.

He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

And the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.

And Esdras opened the book before all the people: for he was above all the people. And when he had opened it, all the people stood.
