My servants shall bring them down from Libanus to the sea. And I will put them together in floats in the sea, and convey them to the place, which thou shalt signify to me; and will land them there. And thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt allow me necessaries, to furnish food for my household.

Juda and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants with the best corn: they set forth balm and honey and oil and rosin in thy fairs.

And they gave money to hewers of stones and to masons: and meat and drink and oil to the Sidonians and Tyrians, to bring cedar-trees from Libanus to the sea of Joppe, according to the orders which Cyrus king of the Persians had given them.

And he was angry with the Tyrians and the Sidonians. But they with one accord came to him, and having gained Blastus, who was the king's chamberlain, they desired peace, because their countries were nourished by him.

And we will cut down as many trees out of Libanus, as thou shalt want, and will convey them in floats by sea to Joppe: and it will be thy part to bring them thence to Jerusalem.

And the king made silver and gold to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar-trees as sycamores, which grow in the plains in great multitude.

I will pass over therefore, and will see this excellent land beyond the Jordan, and this goodly mountain, and Libanus.

And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying: I have heard all thou hast desired of me; and I will do all thy desire concerning cedar-trees, and fir-trees.

So Hiram gave Solomon cedar-trees, and fir-trees, according to all his desire.

And Hiram sent his servants in the fleet, sailors that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

Behold, I have done for thee according to thy words, and have given thee a wise and understanding heart; insomuch that there hath been no one like thee before thee, nor shall arise after thee.

Juda and Israel were innumerable, as the sand of the sea in multitude: eating and drinking, and rejoicing.

And Solomon was magnified above all the kings of the earth for riches and glory.

But, as I see, there is a spirit in men, and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth understanding.

I have spoken in my heart, saying: Behold I am become great, and have gone beyond all in wisdom, that were before me in Jerusalem: and my mind hath contemplated many things wisely, and I have learned.
