For the king's navy, once in three years, went with the navy of Hiram by sea to Tharsis; and brought from thence gold, and silver, and elephants' teeth, and apes, and peacocks.
And Jonas rose up to flee into Tharsis from the face of the Lord, and he went down to Joppe, and found a ship going to Tharsis: and he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them to Tharsis from the face of the Lord.
For, the islands wait for me, and the ships of the sea in the beginning: that I may bring thy sons from afar, their silver and their gold with them, to the name of the Lord thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.
But a man of God came to him, and said: O king, let not the army of Israel go out with thee. For the Lord is not with Israel, and all the children of Ephraim.
And he gave counsel to the people, and appointed the singing men of the Lord, to praise him by their companies, and to go before the army, and with one voice to say: Give glory to the Lord, for his mercy endureth for ever.

So the king of Israel, and the king of Juda, and the king of Edom went: and they fetched a compass of seven days' journey. And there was no water for the army, and for the beasts, that followed them.
