Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his cavalry, saying: Fight ye not with small, or great, but with the king of Israel only.

Both the great and the little shall die in the land. They shall not be buried nor lamented: and men shall not cut themselves nor make themselves bald for them.

And they went out at noon. But Benadad was drinking himself drunk in his pavilion, and the two and thirty kings with him, who were come to help him.

And coming upon him (for he is now weary and weak-handed) I will defeat him: and when all the people is put to flight that is with him I will kill the king who will be left alone.

So when the captains of the chariots saw Josaphat, they suspected that he was the king of Israel: and making a violent assault they fought against him. And Josaphat cried out.
