And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall escape the sword of Hazael shall be slain by Jehu: and whosoever shall escape the sword of Jehu shall be slain by Eliseus.
And the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael the king of Syria, and into the hand of Benadad the son of Hazael, all days.
And Hazael said to him: Why doth my lord weep? And he said: Because I know the evil that thou wilt do to the children of Israel. Their strong cities thou wilt burn with fire, and their young men thou wilt kill with the sword and thou wilt dash their children, and rip up their pregnant women.
And the rest were slain by the sword of him that sitteth upon the horse, which proceedeth out of his mouth; and all the birds were filled with their flesh.
As if a man should flee from the face of a lion, and a bear should meet him: or enter into the house, and lean with his hand upon the wall, and a serpent should bite him.
Lo, I have set thee this day over the nations, and over the kingdoms, to root up and to pull down, and to waste and to destroy, and to build and to plant.
But he shall judge the poor with justice, and shall reprove with equity for the meek of the earth. And he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth: and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.
So Jehu the son of Josaphat the son of Namsi conspired against Joram. Now Joram had besieged Ramoth Galaad, he and all Israel, fighting with Hazael king of Syria.
And the king said to Hazael: Take with thee presents, and go to meet the man of God, and consult the Lord by him, saying: Can I recover of this my illness?
And when thou art come thither, thou shalt see Jehu the son of Josaphat the son of Namsi. And going in thou shalt make him rise up from amongst his brethren, and carry him into an inner chamber.
And the watchman told, saying: He came even to them, but returneth not. And the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Namsi, for he drives furiously.
And Jehu said to Badacer his captain: Take him, and cast him into the field of Naboth the Jezrahelite. For I remember when I and thou sitting in a chariot followed Achab this man's father, that the Lord laid this burden upon him, saying:
He that shall flee from the fear shall fall into the pit: and he that shall get up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon Moab the year of their visitation, saith the Lord.
And I will set my face against them. They shall go out from fire: and fire shall consume them. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have set my face against them.
But Jehu bent his bow with his hand, and shot Joram between the shoulders. And the arrow went out through his heart, and immediately he fell in his chariot.
