And he planted a grove. And Achab did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel, than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

And from thence he went to mount Carmel: and from thence he returned to Samaria.

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet, who wrought signs before him, wherewith he seduced them who received the character of the beast, and who adored his image. These two were cast alive into the pool of fire, burning with brimstone.

But I have against thee a few things: because thou sufferest the woman Jezabel, who calleth herself a prophetess, to teach, and to seduce my servants, to commit fornication, and to eat of things sacrificed to idols.

And he said: The Lord will roar from Sion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem: and the beautiful places of the shepherds have mourned, and the top of Carmel is withered.

As I live (saith the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts), as Thabor is among the mountains and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.

But yet they departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin; but walked in them. And there still remained a grove also in Samaria.

And when Joram saw Jehu, he said: Is there peace, Jehu? And he answered: What peace? So long as the fornications of Jezabel thy mother, and her many sorceries are in their vigour.

Then the king of Israel assembled the prophets, about four hundred men, and he said to them: Shall I go to Ramoth Galaad to fight, or shall I forbear? They answered: Go up, and the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.

And Elias said again to the people: I only remain a prophet of the Lord: but the prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty men.

Moreover he also removed his mother Maacha, from being the princess in the sacrifices of Priapus, and in the grove which she had consecrated to him. And he destroyed her den, and broke in pieces the filthy idol, and burnt it by the torrent Cedron.

And when Samuel rose early, to go to Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, that Saul was come to Carmel, and had erected for himself a triumphant arch; and returning had passed on, and gone down to Galgal. And Samuel came to Saul; and Saul was offering a holocaust to the Lord out of the choicest of the spoils which he had brought from Amalec.

Achab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered together the prophets unto mount Carmel.

And Eliseus said to the king of Israel: What have I to do with thee? Go to the prophets of thy father, and thy mother. And the king of Israel said to him: Why hath the Lord gathered together these three kings, to deliver them into the hands of Moab?

Now therefore call to me all the prophets of Baal, and all his servants, and all his priests. Let none be wanting, for I have a great sacrifice to offer to Baal. Whosoever shall be wanting shall not live. Now Jehu did this craftily, that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

The Jews also and the magistrates to the number of one hundred and fifty men were at my table, besides them that came to us from among the nations that were round about us.

How beautiful art thou, and how comely, my dearest, in delights!

And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria: they prophesied in Baal and deceived my people Israel.
