You that sing to the sound of the psaltery: they have thought themselves to have instruments of music like David;

And he appointed according to the order of David his father the offices of the priests in their ministries: and the Levites in their order to give praise, and minister before the priests according to the duty of every day: and the porters in their divisions by gate and gate. For so David, the man of God, had commanded.

And the porters kept guard at every gate, so as not to depart one moment from their service. And therefore their brethren the Levites prepared meats for them.

And Obededom, with his brethren sixty-eight: and Obededom the son of Idithun, and Hosa he appointed to be porters.

These are the chief of the singing men of the families of the Levites, who dwelt in the chambers, by the temple, that they might serve continually day and night in their ministry.

And the king made of the thyine trees the rails of the house of the Lord and of the king's house, and citterns and harps for singers: there were no such thyine trees as these brought, nor seen unto this day.)

So they came to the gate of the city, and told them, saying: We went to the camp of the Syrians, and we found no man there, but horses, and asses, tied, and the tents standing.

And he appointed Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to remember his works, and to glorify, and praise the Lord God of Israel.

And the Levites are to stand in the morning to give thanks, and to sing praises to the Lord: and in like manner in the evening:

And they came into Jerusalem with psalteries, and harps, and trumpets into the house of the Lord.

But over them that carried burdens for divers uses were scribes, and masters of the number of the Levites, and porters.

The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert; Sion is made a desert; Jerusalem is desolate.
