Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves manfully for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord will do that which is good in his sight.

And I looked and rose up. And I said to the chief men and the magistrates, and to the rest of the common people: Be not afraid of them. Remember the Lord who is great and terrible; and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, and your wives, and your houses.

Be of good courage, and let us fight for our people, and for the city of our God: and the Lord will do what is good in his sight.

He said again to them: Fear not: neither be ye dismayed. Take courage and be strong. For so will the Lord do to all your enemies, against whom you fight.

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, do manfully, and be strengthened.

Take courage and behave like men, ye Philistines: lest you come to be servants to the Hebrews, as they have served you. Take courage and fight.

Arise, it is thy part to give orders: and we will be with thee. Take courage, and do it.

And when he was brought to him, he said to him: Let not any man's heart be dismayed in him. I thy servant will go, and will fight against the Philistine.

And the children of Israel said to the Lord: We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever pleaseth thee: Only deliver us this time.

But if he shall say to me: Thou pleasest me not: I am ready. Let him do that which is good before him.

So Samuel told him all the words, and did not hide them from him. And he answered: It is the Lord. Let him do what is good in his sight.

And he said: If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me; but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, I will help thee.

So Joab and the people that were with him, went against the Syrians to the battle. And he put them to flight.
