Leave Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans! Declare with a shout of joy, proclaim this, let it go out to the end of the earth; announce, ‘The Lord has redeemed his servant   Jacob! ’


Then I heard another voice from heaven: Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins or receive any of her plagues.


With many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, ‘Be saved from this corrupt  generation! ’


Leave Babylon; save your lives, each of you! Don’t perish because of her guilt. For this is the time of the  Lord’s vengeance – he will pay her what she deserves.


Leave, leave, go out from there! Do not touch anything unclean; go out from her, purify yourselves, you who carry the vessels of the  Lord.


As soon as the angels got them outside, one of them  said, ‘Run for your lives! Don’t look back and don’t stop anywhere on the plain! Run to the mountains, or you will be swept away! ’


Writhe and cry out,  , Daughter Zion, like a woman in labour, for now you will leave the city and camp in the open fields. You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued; there the Lord will redeem you from the grasp of your enemies!


Come out from among her, my people! Save your lives, each of you, from the Lord’s burning anger.


Escape from Babylon; depart from the Chaldeans’ land. Be like the rams that lead the flock.


Stand up, shake the dust off yourself! Take your seat, Jerusalem. Remove the bonds  from your neck, captive Daughter Zion.’


At their cries, all the people of Israel who were around them fled because they thought, ‘The earth may swallow us too! ’


He warned the community, ‘Get away now from the tents of these wicked men. Don’t touch anything that belongs to them,  or you will be swept away because of all their sins.’


‘Go down and sit in the dust, Virgin Daughter Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, Daughter Chaldea! For you will no longer be called pampered and spoilt.
