Your message is to be sound beyond reproach,  so that any opponent will be ashamed, because he doesn’t have anything bad to say about us.

Conduct  yourselves honourably among the Gentiles,  so that when they slander you as evildoers, they will observe your good works and will glorify God on the day he visits.


For it is God’s will  that you silence the ignorance  of foolish people by doing good.


Yet do this with gentleness and reverence, keeping a clear conscience,  so that when you are accused,  those who disparage your good conduct in Christ will be put to shame.


If anyone teaches false doctrine and does not agree with the sound teaching of our Lord  Jesus Christ and with the teaching that promotes godliness,


If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take note of that person; don’t associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.


Then I said, ‘What you are doing isn’t right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God  and not invite the reproach of our foreign enemies?


You who tremble at his word, hear the word of the  Lord: ‘Your brothers who hate and exclude you for my name’s sake have said, “Let the Lord be glorified so that we can see your joy! ” But they will be put to shame.’


Therefore, I want younger women to marry,  have children, manage their households, and give the adversary no opportunity to accuse us.


When he had said these things, all his adversaries  were humiliated,  but the whole crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things he was doing.


When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, ‘You are not far from the kingdom of God.’   And no one dared  to question him any longer.


Then the scribe said to him, ‘You are right, teacher. You have correctly said that he is one, and there is no one  else except him.


One  of the scribes  approached. When he heard them debating and saw that Jesus answered them well, he asked him, ‘Which command is the most important of all? ’


Jesus told them, ‘Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.’   And they were utterly amazed  at him.


Let our people learn to devote themselves to good works for pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.
