Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay,   , says the Lord.

Vengeance and retribution belong to me.  , In time their foot will slip, for their day of disaster is near, and their doom is coming quickly.’


For we know the one who has said, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay,   , and again, The Lord will judge his people.   ,


Don’t say, ‘I’ll do to him what he did to me; I’ll repay the man for what he has done.’


Don’t say, ‘I will avenge this evil! ’ Wait on the Lord,  and he will rescue you.


Do not repay anyone evil for evil.  Give careful thought to do what is honourable  in everyone’s eyes.


This means one must not transgress against and take advantage  of a brother or sister in this manner, because the Lord is an avenger of all these offences, as we also previously told and warned you.


Do not take revenge  or bear a grudge against members of your community, but love your neighbour as yourself;  I am the Lord.


Bless those who persecute you;  bless and do not curse.


Rejoice, you nations, concerning his people,  , for he will avenge the blood of his servants. He will take vengeance on his adversaries;  , he will purify his land and his people.


But I tell you, don’t resist   an evildoer. On the contrary, if anyone slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
