The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to get a share of the crops.


Who serves as a soldier at his own expense?  Who plants a vineyard and does not eat its fruit? Or who shepherds a flock and does not drink the milk from the flock?


I have my own vineyard.  , The one thousand are for you, Solomon, but two hundred for those who take care of its fruits.


Now he who plants and he who waters are one,  and each will receive his own reward according to his own labour.


Blessed will be those servants the master finds alert   when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will get ready,   have them recline at the table, then come and serve them.


If anyone serves me, he must follow me. Where I am, there my servant   also will be.   If anyone serves me, the Father will honour   him.

Blessed is that servant whom the master finds doing his job when he comes.


Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will stand in the presence of kings. He will not stand in the presence of the unknown.


For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered  for you, leaving you an example,  that you should follow  in his steps.


Household slaves, submit to your masters  with all reverence  not only to the good and gentle ones but also to the cruel.


Slaves, obey your human  masters in everything. Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but work wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord.


Don’t you know that those who perform the temple services eat the food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar  share in the offerings of the altar?


When the angel who spoke to him had gone, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier, who was one of those who attended him.
