For what will it benefit someone if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will anyone give in exchange for his life?


Better a little with righteousness than great income with injustice.


What is desirable in a person is his fidelity; better to be a poor person than a liar.


A righteous person acts with integrity; his children who come after him will be happy.


Better a little with the fear of the  Lord than great treasure with turmoil.


Whoever lives with integrity fears the  Lord, but the one who is devious in his ways despises him.


For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, and your tongues mutter injustice.


A righteous person is careful in dealing with his neighbour, but the ways of the wicked lead them astray.


My lord should pay no attention to this worthless fool Nabal, for he lives up to his name:  His name means ‘stupid’, and stupidity is all he knows.  I, your servant, didn’t see my lord’s young men whom you sent.


Now consider carefully  what you should do, because there is certain to be trouble for our master and his entire family. He is such a worthless fool nobody can talk to him! ’


Don’t let your mouth speak dishonestly, and don’t let your lips talk deviously.
