Look, I have refined you,  but not as silver; I have tested  you in the furnace of affliction.


I, the Lord, examine the mind, I test the heart  , to give to each according to his way, according to what his actions deserve.


As a crucible refines silver, and a smelter refines gold, so a person should refine his praise.


so that the proven character of your faith   #– #more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire   #– #may result  in praise, glory, and honour  at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

A prudent servant will rule over a disgraceful son and share an inheritance among brothers.


‘Son of man, the house of Israel has become merely dross to me.  All of them are copper, tin, iron, and lead inside the furnace;  they are just dross from silver.


Some of those who have insight will fall so that they may be refined,  purified, and cleansed  until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.


Remember that the Lord your God led you on the entire journey these forty years in the wilderness, so that he might humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.


He fed you in the wilderness with manna,  which your ancestors had not known, in order to humble and test you, so that in the end he might cause you to prosper.


Yet he knows the way I have taken; when he has tested me,  I will emerge as pure gold.


Surely there is a mine for silver and a place where gold is refined.


All a person’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs motives.  ,
