The Israelites travelled on and camped in the plains of Moab near the Jordan opposite Jericho.

So Moses and the priest Eleazar said to them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho,

Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Go up this mountain of the Abarim range and see the land that I have given the Israelites.
