From the Israelites’ half, take one out of every fifty from the people, cattle, donkeys, sheep, and goats, all the livestock, and give them to the Levites who perform the duties of  the Lord’s tabernacle.’

Their duties involved the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the sanctuary utensils that were used with these, and the screen  ,  #– #and all the work relating to them.


The Gershonites’ duties  at the tent of meeting involved the tabernacle, the tent, its covering, the screen for the entrance to the tent of meeting,


Obey your leaders  and submit to them, since they keep watch  over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.


And tell Archippus,  ‘Pay attention to the ministry you have received in the Lord, so that you can accomplish it.’

He may assist his brothers to fulfil responsibilities  at the tent of meeting,  but he must not do the work. This is how you are to deal with the Levites regarding their duties.’


On that day he made them woodcutters and water-carriers #– #as they are today #– #for the community and for the Lord’s altar at the place he would choose.


They also attacked the tents of the herdsmen and captured many sheep and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.
